Only in Cincinnati

A woman was arrested for harassing people on tuesday in my great hometown of Cincinnati. Why is this funny? You may be asking yourself. Well, she happened to be wearing a cow costume at the time. Her arrest report claims she was chasing children and urinating on her neighbors porches.
I love Ohio.

I can't contain my excitement!

Jenny Lewis, one of my favorite artists/the lead singer of one of my favorite bands (Rilo Kiley) will be releasing her sophomore album "Acid Tongue" this September! Lewis has come a long way since her acting debut in "Troop Beverly Hills." Her first solo album "Rabbit Fur Coat" feature folk singin' duo The Watson Twins. For more on "Acid Tongue" click here. Obama for yo mama.

Watch this video.

A blast from the past!

During spring quarter, I discovered a website that allows you to play old school Mario on your computer. Well, while my friends were out partaking in the dabauchery that is spring quarter at OSU...I was sequestered to my room frantically trying to beat Bowser (I am well aware that I am somewhat nerdy.) If you want to stoop to my level and plague yourself with this addicting piece of nostalgia, that website is located here.

Just when I thought I couldn't be more obsessed...

Since hearing the song "Mushaboom" I have been addicted to the music of Leslie Feist. Her 2007 release "The Reminder" landed her a Grammy nomination for best new artist. She is also Canadian and sings for the band Broken Social Scene, which doesn't hurt her bad ass factor. Well just when I thought her music couldn't get any better, she released a remix album of her song "I Feel it All". Britt Daniels, the lead singer of Spoon, made an amazing remix for the album which is available to preview/buy here.

Who said bingo was just for old people?

This bingo game has taken the hipster cliche to the next level. I'm esspecially amused by "uber-hot asian hipster" (I took a Rural Sociology class once which for some reason was full of trendy asians...random I know.) I also like 8-foot tall guy, and 4-foot tall girl. This is probably the game my generation will playing in our future retirement homes.

Swiss Family Robinson of the new millenium

Trendhunter Magazine recently ranked the Top 9 Redneck Innovations. These crowning achievements in Hillbilly living range from a pick-up truck turned into a redneck limo, to an ad campaign titled "Machine Guns for Kids." However, the pride of Appalachia is the epic structure referred to as the "Redneck Mansion." The mansion is comprised of several trailers and RVs stacked, piled, and connected in anyway possible. Who knew that one man's trailer trash was another man's treasure?

Udderly disgusting

My brother told me about an online retailer which makes products based on plays on words/puns. Being the pun lover that I am, I went to the website to browse their merchandise and came across this unsightly product called the "Calf & Half". This might be taking that whole country style a little too far. I've seen kitchens decked out with pig shaped salt and pepper shakers, cow baskets, and chicken wall paper...but never have I seen an udder shaped pitcher. Essentially its just a slightly more tasteful version of those boob mugs you can buy at gift shops in Myrtle Beach.

"Backseat, windows up..."

While perusing youtube, I stumbled across an awesome video of Death Cab for Cutie playing a song in the backseat of a cab. At first I assumed that it was just another display of hipsters doing strange things, but then I discovered that it is actually an online series called The Black Cab Sessions. What they do is give an artist or band one take to perform one of their songs while riding in the back of a British cab. The outcome is not only good to listen to, but fun to watch.
Here is Death Cab for Cutie performing "No Sunlight" in The Black Cab Sessions.

Hot beats!!!

If Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins and the Ditty Bops procreated, their child would sound a lot like She & Him. She & Him is an up-and-coming music duo showcasing the talents of M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel (yes, the girl from "Elf"). I didn't immediately take to their debut album "Volume One" but after a complete listen, I am hooked. For all you Columbus dwellers, they are playing a show at the Wexner Center on August 4th. To have a listen, here is their myspace.

Rachael Ray is a terrorist?!

So I am probably a little behind the times on this, but recently a Dunkin Donuts commercial featuring Rachael Ray was pulled because she was wearing some "controversial" neck wear. In the commercial she is seen sporting a "keffiyeh" which is actually an Arab headdress, usually worn by powerful leaders such as Yasser Arafat...and Sting. Wanting in on the controversy, I picked up my very own keffiyeh at a local TJ Maxx. TJ Maxx...a terrorist organization!? To read more on this accessorizing blunder click here.
